Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Christmas is so much fun but it is also a lot of work. I have been planning and preparing since right after Thanksgiving.

This year I purchased a white christmas tree. I love the shabby chic, romantic and modern design. I have a small house so I have to creative in decorating. I found this artifical tree at Walmart for $40 at the beginning of December. I used red, green, silver and gold glass balls and a couple of strings of beads as decor.
White Christmas tree with Kelly Dolls
I have a huge collection of Kelly dolls. Some of them are actual Christmas decorations and have the string to hang. I set the dolls throughout the tree. I think it looks really cool. Next year, I may add the small baby bratz dolls that I have.

I grew up putting my dolls around the Christmas tree.

I hung two wreaths in the living room. One is a red rose wreath on the mirror above the fireplace. I placed six votive candles on the mantle along with the bouquets from my vow renewal ceremony.

Stockings hung on mantle
The other wreath is a white feather wreath that I got from Target. It has faux diamonds scattered throughout. I love this shabby chic touch.

I covered the side tables with red table clothes and placed bowls of scented pinecones on one table and near the fireplace.

Scented pinecones and my favorite silk roses.

I've finished shopping for most of my gifts. They are wrapped and safely stored in my closet. I used a coupon at Bed & Body Works to pick up a few gifts for people. Still need to wrap these items.

I still have to get my Christmas Eve dinner together and purchase the stuff for Christmas morning brunch. My small family usually has lots and lots of appetizers to eat on Christmas eve. I bring out all my fancy dishes and entertaining pieces for us all to use.

On Christmas morning we have a big brunch of quiche and fruit salad that I make for us. Later on in the day we go to my parents house and exchange presents with my extended family.

Creativity Exercise from Julia Cameron & Kimberly Wilson

I continue to follow my favorite blogger Kimberly Wilson.

On a recent blog post she summarizes her visit to New York City where she visited Julia Cameron and heard her speak on The Artists Way.

Kimberly also penned her answers to some questions that were presented during the discussion.

As I am on a quest to improve my creativity and especially work on my writing, I answered the questions below. It turned out to be an enlightening experience as I realized that I am creative in so many ways.

Pen a note to your creativity god on where you are and where you need help

Dear Creativity God,

I have been on a quest to explore many creative pursuits. In the past I have taken classes and tried my hand at interior design, sewing, scrap booking, stencil painting walls, writing, jewelry making, gardening, digital online at pinterest.com , polyvore.com, entering contests, journaling.

I need help in getting ideas flowing, remaining consistent, and staying focused. I need help in knowing what I am good at, becoming good at something, and developing my craft whatever it may be.

Pam

Pen note back to self from creativity god

Dear Pam.

KEEP doing what you are doing. Follow your heart. When you lose track of time when you are doing something then that is a sign that you may have found something that is important to you and your heart.

I UNDERSTAND the need to find a space for you to pursue your activities and interests. It will come. I encourage you to set aside some money to buy a small shed or trailer or other structure to utilize for your writing, crafting, creative space. You should also remember that it will not be long before your children move out into the world and pursue their own life. At that time, the rooms they use as bedrooms will be available for you to use.

I encourage you to pay attention to what has been working for you so far.

CONTINUE

·         Continue to explore different art forms that interest you.

·         Take classes, workshops and courses.

·         Participate in writers groups whether or not you feel they are benefiting you.

·         Outline your stories ahead of time.

·         Sit in the same spot every morning.

·         Participate in programs where you have to provide accountability such as GIAM 100X100. There may be others.

·         Continue to work with what you are working with.

·         Write blog posts

·         Follow life coaches, complete their questionnaire

·         Join web groups

REMEMBER that your current and most important project at this time is raising your children. You are helping them become the young people who will grow into young adults.

It is also important to remember that you are a creative person in many aspects of your life already. It is important to acknowledge the beautiful things that we create just by existing in the universe,.

ACKNOWLEDGE your creativity is also evident in every aspect of your life whether or not you realize it or not. It is apparent in the way that you decorate for Christmas. Your tree, your mantle and your table are examples of your creative work. Getting together the Christmas party and the presents for your family is an expression of creativity. You exhibited much creativity when you designed your vow renewal ceremony last year. You are creating when you plan your wardrobe for next year’s cruise. The way you dress each day is an expression of your creativity.

APPRECIATE the opportunities you have to explore your creativity and experiment with different art forms. The fact you get to travel and learn and make mistakes. These are all forms of creative expression.

Love,
Your creativity goddess.

Year in Review! 2012

I've been inspired all year by Kimberly Wilson at www.tranquilitydujour.com weekly and monthy recap. I've incorporated that inventory taking into my own life and included it in my blogs for the past few months. I continue to look for ways to clarify and acknowlege the fabulousness of my life.

So I ran across this online life coach who was offering an end of the year 28 day of truth-telling, reflection, fun, rejuvenation and connection before 2013. It sounds like a really great course but they want $49 for it. It's a four week curriculum that is as follows: Week 1 Review, Week 2 Reset, Week 3 Revive and Week 4 Restart. Check out http://resetreviverestart.com for more information.

Anyway, I decided to do as much of it as I could before I decide if I want to invest. Here is my review of what I've accomplished this year. I broke it down into a bunch of categories and kind of got obsessed with it.
